How
do I care for my countertops?
Here’s
some Professional advice
Granite: Clean with mild cleanser, but don’t use
ammonia or bleach. Should be sealed
annually either with a do it yourself sealer available at home
improvement stores, or by a professional.
Marble: Marble is very porous and will stain and
etch. Must be sealed twice annually.
Solid
Surfaces: These include Corian, Staron, Avonite, and Gibralter. Light stains
and miner scratches can be buffed. Use mild cleaners. Be careful with chemicals,
for example, nail polish remover in the bathroom.
Quartz: This
includes Silestone, Zodiac and Cambria. Quartz surfaces are practically
maintenance free; no sealing necessary.
Glass: All
the Windex you want!
Wood: Clean
with very mild vinegar and water solution; seal with organic tung oil varnish; reapply a satin wood finish annually.
Laminate:
Maintenance free.
Metal: Use
mild non-abrasive cleaners.
