Why should I build a fence?

There are many reasons for installing a fence. Number one, good fences make good neighbors.

 You may want to accent to your landscaping, or  keep dogs and cats out of your yard, or maybe just for  security.  There are many fence styles out there to fit your needs.

 

What do I do before I build my fence?
Before having a fence built there are a few things you will need to do first. You will want to  check local regulations governing fence styles and height and so on. You also need to find out exactly where your property line is. Most municipalities require the fence to built a certain number of feet from the line. Your neighborhood association will probably have some restrictions as well..

Will building a fence around my yard increase the value of my home?

Not much. But it won’t hurt, as long as it is well maintained. An old, ugly, neglected fence will probably scare people away.
 

What styles are there to choose from?

If you want to spend the least amount of money, go with chain link. If you want traditional, put up a wood picket fence. Full-height stockade wood fencing offers privacy and security. Vinyl fencing is gaining popularity because of its low maintenance, but it's more expensive than most other styles. Finally, if you want to use the fence to accent your landscaping, try wrought iron or stone.
