 What is an incandescent light bulb?

 The most used residential light bulb is an “incandescent” light bulb. This refers to when the light bulb heats up so much that it gives off light. This is why these light s are so energy inefficient. Most of the energy going in to the light bulb is to used to create heat.

  Have you ever heard the term warm lighting? The lower the color temperature of a lamp, the warmer it is.  You will notice this by the red glow that it eminates. The higher the temperature , the cooler its said to be, noted by a blue color .

The CRI of a light source determines its ability to render colors. The higher the CRI or color rendering index the easier it is to determine the color of an object it illuminates.

A compact fluorescent light is a modern light bulb that uses a fraction of the electricity used by a regular incandescent light bulb.

 

Why should I use compact fluorescent lighting?

 

To save money! Lets face it being energy efficient is great for the environment, but the greatest advantage to most of us is the dollar savings. The typical CFL uses only 25% to 30% of the electricity used buy the standard incandescent. They also generate 70 to 80 percent less heat than the standard incandescent, which will also cut the portion of your electric bill associated with cooling your home.
